The 10K for 10K Mother's Day Fun walk-Run ChallengeIt was a beautiful morning without a breath of wind for the Mother’s Day fun run/walk sponsored by Lynne Vautier of Vautier Pharmacy.

The girls at the registration table were kept at a brisk pace as 495 women lined up to receive their numbered bib, T-shirt and happy heart socks and the music started pumping as we were lead through our warm up exercises.

As we waited at the start line there was much excitement and chatter and the hope of completing the course in a reasonable time! The clock started at 8.30 am for the walkers and off we headed around the mapped out course of 10km with many supporters along the way cheering us on. The scenery was enhanced by the placement on trees and poles of the Sweet Louise ‘chicks’ that had been beautifully decorated at the recently held Project Runway event.

The second clock time of 9 am was for the runners of the 10km – even though I had had a head start I was well and truly lapped!
At the finish line some of our Sweet Louise members were presenting medals and giving their congratulations for completing the run/walk. The Sweet Louise members, Harriet, Judy, Carol, Lisa and Julie and myself were presented with a very large cheque for an incredible $13,365. What a fantastic result.

After a banana and sausage sizzle we moved onto the most anticipated spot prizes that had been generously donated for the event. There were many squeals of delight as names were picked out of the bucket!

Finally our thoughts on what to do with the over twenty beautiful Sweet Louise ‘chicks’; they were put up for sale and sold up like hot cakes. We do hope that those that took a ‘chick’ home continue to enjoy them.

It was a truly great event and with all the smiling faces evidence that everyone really enjoyed their morning.
