September: Waikato News from Robyn

Sept2014 Waikato PictureThis month has blown by quickly, and we are all relieved to see that spring is finally here. August began with a lovely mid-winter lunch at the Windows Training restaurant at WINTEC. Members were welcomed, waited on and then served by very nervous trainee chefs who were well supervised by their tutor. It was very nice to simply meet, chat and enjoy each other’s company.

Because our usual meeting place at the Cancer Society is full of daffodils ready for Daffodil Day at the end of the month, we are having a craft/card making/jewellery/patchwork/UFO and lunch session from 10.30 to 2pm on August 29th – details at the end of the newsletter. We have a number of very skilled members who enjoy a variety of crafts and they are keen to share their skills. Once again it is a great opportunity to meet new members and to catch up with friends.

I have been out and about in the Sweet Louise car visiting some of the members who live more remotely. These members have difficulty attending meetings so it was really nice to catch up with them in their homes and to see our beautiful Waikato countryside. The hospitality has been wonderful, so thank-you to those ladies.
