October: Mid Central News from Geraldine

Hawkes Bay

This month we met at the lovely No. 5 Cafe & Larder, with the room looking beautiful with lovely flowers on our tables. We were joined by Hayley Jenkins who shared her knowledge of essential oils and practical emotional wellness steps. Hayley gained her qualification of BSc Dietetics from Michigan State University and is certainly passionate about the mind and body wellness connection and the various oils that are beneficial. One that I think we are all pretty familiar with is the relaxing soothing properties of lavender oil. We had a lovely morning with lots of information sharing and a tasty morning tea.

Palmerston North

It was terrible weather for our meeting this month. However once we were inside Estelle Bennett’s beautiful home all was forgotten. The room was abuzz with conversation; most of us find it hard to fathom where the year has zipped by and the ‘good old silly’ season will be upon us again soon. Estelle’s lovely daughters, Maddie and Evi were at hand to show us how to make our candles. We had a variety of glasses that were filled with vanilla smelling wax and as you can see by the photograph, they are stunning! Just in case you may wish to give this a go, all wax supplies were obtained from a website called Candle Creations and the glasses and bowls were picked up from second hand shops for about a $1 each. We can certainly recommend it as it’s lots of fun and they make lovely gifts.
