What a fantastic joyful meeting we had with Karen Philipsen Brown from Healing Ways who took us through a laughter yoga session at the Mercy Centre. We learned that laughter is a natural stress reliever helping to lower the body’s cortisol levels. Then we had to laugh. Karen gave us short exercises to do, starting with a simple Namaste greeting all the way to a lawn mower driving finale. And yes, exercise is the right word. It takes a bit of oxygen and energy to do. We all left energised and smiling.
Less raucous but just as much fun was smoothie tasting. North Shore Members got to sample smoothies whipped up by Felicity from Cook The Books in Grey Lynn. They came in the colours of traffic lights starting with the Green Protein which had green ingredients including kale, celery and cucumber. Then the Yellow Healer with turmeric for its anti-inflammatory properties. And lastly a Red Energizer with beetroot and berries. Members had their own favourites but they were all delicious, yes even that green one. Thank you to The Inner Wheel Albany and East Coast Bays branch who funded this meeting for us.
