It felt like autumn was upon us at the March Members Meeting – we cranked up the fire at Hobson House to take the chill off. Lynn Black made us a wonderful vegetarian flan, fresh salad and an amazing banana sponge, followed by a fresh fruit platter. It was enjoyed by everyone. Thank you Lynn for the amazing food.
Nicola Mayos from Breastcare Products made the long drive down from Auckland with her husband Ray to spend Saturday with us. It makes such a difference to have a bra and prosthesis that fits well and feels comfortable. Nicola emphasised that if it turns out the bra or prosthesis doesn’t feel comfortable or you’re just not happy with it, then please contact her and she’ll get it sorted for you. One Member shared how she was having trouble doing up her bra due to the neuropathy in her hands. Nicola’s solution was simple – she gave her a bra that she was able to do up in the front, which made one less frustrating thing for her to manage. We hope to see Nicola again sometime this year.
Hobson House was packed out for our April Members Meeting and it was especially wonderful to welcome husbands, sisters and friends.
Phil Kerslake’s presentation “Living Better with MBC with Resilience” was inspiring, informative, life affirming and it hit the right spot on many levels with all of us. Lunch Box Productions very generously donated free tickets to the hit musical “Singin’ in the Rain” and the tickets were quickly snapped up – we had some lovely feedback from a Member who attended:
“It was a truly amazing show my family and I enjoyed it so much and were thrilled to get the opportunity to go along to it. We sung all the way home, totally out of tune but we sung. This show is so full of energy and hype you actually forget anything what is troubling you as you can’t help but become totally absorbed in the musical.”
