December: Wellington and Christchurch News from Tracy

Wellington News

Our November meeting saw us preparing for Christmas. We were guided through making a beautiful Christmas tree card by Lynne Hawkes, a very talented creative lady. She calmly encouraged us and ensured we all went home with our own masterpiece. Thanks to our volunteers who took care of all the housekeeping details, food and drink, and to a young volunteer who photographed the day.

Ladies from the Kapiti Coast enjoyed a morning tea meeting together. Although the day was dull and overcast it was lovely to have time to get to know one another. There has been a favourable response to having regular meetings in Kapiti, so watch this space for news of regular meetings in 2016!

The final Wellington meeting of the year was held at the Hobson Study Centre, it took the form of a lovely Christmas themed finger food buffet. All our volunteers contributed to the buffet, along with some tasty baking from the Good Bitches Baking. We had a beautiful floral centre piece donated by the lovely ladies at Scent Floral Boutique which was ‘won’ in a lucky seat by one of our members. There were some very creative gifts which surprised and thrilled us in the Secret Santa. What a lovely way to end the year!

Christchurch News

The 1st December saw Sweet Louise commence in Christchurch and what a warm welcome with temperatures into the 30’s! After an initial hiccup with cancelled flights, I was able to meet with many health care professionals, all of whom were excited to hear of Sweet Louise’s services, and have very generously offered their support.

I had the opportunity to join with members for a meeting, at the funky Purple Weka Cafe, where 5 of us enjoyed getting to know each other. There were great suggestions about future meeting venues and what format these meetings might take.

I plan to visit Christchurch again at beginning of March 2016 and look forward to meeting with more of our members at that time.
