The February Hamilton Meeting was attended by Nancy James, Social Worker at Hospice Waikato. She highlighted a wide range of areas in which social workers are able to assist patients and their families. These included:

  • Linking people with community resources such as benefits and accommodation.
  • The importance of making a will – If assets are over $13,000 a will is needed. Options include an online tool set up by Mai Chen at www.willtolive.co.nz, or Public Trust can offer this service too, though there is now a cost.

Congratulations to the “InLaws and Outlaws Team” who participated in the Relay for Life at Mystery Creek. Feedback was “the Relay for Life was really worthwhile. It was great to be part of Ron’s team. Rain came along intermittently but it didn’t dampen the great spirit of remembrance, courage and camaraderie.”
