April: Mid Central News from Geraldine

IMG_8469 resizedWe had a special treat this month at Estelle Bennett’s beautiful home and garden where we were all very spoilt enjoying a delicious lunch of gourmet sandwiches, savouries and yummy raspberry and coconut slice. Estelle shared the history of her homestead and the renovations that have been done and we all strolled about her lovely gardens. We shared many stories and had many laughs with Carol and Harriet (as pictured) dancing as flamingos by the pool!

We starting planning some ideas for our style of dress that we will be decorating our ‘chick’ for the Mother’s day Fun Run in May, so please do join us next month armed with your ideas and any bits and bobs you may wish to bring along.

In Whanganui we had a lovely morning at the Funky Duck Café (formerly Reflections) by the picturesque Virginia Lake where there are in fact many ducks! The sandwiches were delicious and the creamy iced coffee went down a treat. Also located in the park are beautiful gardens with the begonias putting on a fabulous show.

At our New Plymouth meeting it was a surprise to find the carpark overflowing with cars and boat trailers at our usual haunt, The Bach Café located down by the breakwater, as there was a fishing competition on. The sea was glistening and so calm one could almost have water skied out of the harbour. With such a lovely day, we enjoyed sitting outside with the gentle ebb and flow of the sea close by. We shared many stories and laughter so I do hope you may be able to join us again later in the year.
