Sweet Louise Member Donna, her husband Mark and their two boys headed down to Rotorua for a thrill-seeking weekend all thanks to supporters like you.
“Sinda [Senior Support Coordinator] rang up and offered us family support. I immediately said yes,” says Donna.
Sinda organised vouchers for the family to go up the Gondola and ride the Luge in Rotorua.Donna says her boys love spending time together and doing an activity they enjoy made it much more special.
After a three hour journey from Auckland, the family arrived in Rotorua ready for an afternoon of fun and excitement. A Gondola ride up to the top was the first thing to do. The journey was filled with laughter for them all. And once they reached the top, the race down the Luge began.
“Now the boys are getting older, they’re getting more and more adventurous. I loved seeing the excitement on the boys’ faces and seeing them have so much fun.
“The best part was the moment the photo was taken. Kurt (in front) had been trying to overtake us to win and he was playing dirty, swerving in and out – he finally managed to get us just before the corner! To capture that picture with the four of us was a thrill.”
For Donna, Sweet Louise’s Family Initiative is a great opportunity for Members and their families to create special memories.
“Members can choose something really special, as normally it would be too “extravagant” on a limited budget. It also makes you think outside the square and maybe do something you wouldn’t normally do or go to.”
The Rotorua adventure is a memory that Donna, Mark, Jett and Kurt will never forget.
