We were lucky to have Physiotherapist Michelle Gall (also a Clinical Pilates instructor) come and talk about the Pinc programmes and take us through some breathing and relaxation exercises. The Pinc and Steel Cancer Rehabilitation Trust has funding throughout the country to support access onto the programmes.  http://www.pincandsteel.com

Michelle reassured that programmes are individualised and aimed at meeting your own goals, be that walking  the dog, playing a round of golf or running a marathon.  Following the meeting a member shared her goal of walking Round the Bays with another member keen to join her….

On a completely different note, we have also been in touch with the Totara Park Equine Assisted Counselling where one member was lucky enough to have a sample experience with the horses. We are hoping that we may be able to take a group of members sometime in the warmer months to have another amazing horsey experience under the safe and wonderful guidance of  Judy and Cilla.

Reflexologist  and Sweet Louise Service Provider Karen McCann joined us for our Whangarei meeting to share a wealth of knowledge from her 30 years as a Practitioner.  Reflexology can be used to treat any  system of the body and should be relaxing and pain free.  It certainly looked relaxing for one lucky member who had a mini treatment including some lymphatic drainage work, after which her watch was looser.

It was relaxing on the North Shore this month too with lovely service providers (photos above) coming from far and wide to give members the chance to experience reflexology, oncology massage and reiki.  We heard about the benefits and then had the pleasure of experiencing them. Thank you so very much to Marita Cairns Reiki Practitioner, Lymphoedema and Oncology Massage Therapist, Karen Middleton and Margaret Fairbrother (professional, registered members of Reflexology New Zealand) and Lynne Walker, Helle Dwyer and Linda Phillips,  Reiki practitioners, for giving us your time and care.

Thank you to Tracey, Natalie, Margaret, Robyn and Tracey, our fabulous volunteers who have helped us with our meetings this month.
