A personal connection to Sweet Louise made the decision to swim in the Rangitoto Swim an easy one for David French. The nephew of Sweet Louise’s namesake Louise Perkins, David raised more than $1400 for Sweet Louise when he took part in the Rangitoto Swim last month.

“I have been doing swims for years, and I was planning to do the Rangitoto Swim anyway. I remembered my brother and a team from Sweet Louise did it for Sweet Louise a couple years ago, and I thought, “Why not?” and so I decided to do it.”

David has participated in a number of ocean swims over the years but this was his first Rangitoto Swim, a challenge not for the
faint-hearted. The 4.6 kilometre swim starts at the Rangitoto Island and ends at St Heliers Bay. It takes more than an hour to complete.

In three weeks, David raised an amazing $1485 through his Givealittle page thanks to friends and family.

“I have had an interesting response from supporters all over the world. I never would have imagined I could reach such a total.

“I had many generous donors that are family friends and family members, so for that I am extremely grateful to these great people.”

Thank you David for your absolutely amazing support and congratulations on completing the Rangitoto Swim!
